Preggy Update # 2

Eleven weeks  to go? Really? How can I be in my third trimester already? I guess it’s time for another preggy update!

How Far Along: 29 weeks or 7.25 months pregnant; our baby is due on June 19

Total Weight Gain: 15 pounds

How Big is the Baby: the size of a small cabbage – 17 inches, 2.9 lbs

Baby Movements: Pretty consistent, still feeling like flutters. We went to the movies to see Hunger Games and the baby was so active Honey even had to feel all that movement!

Nursery Update: I have purchased some more accessories for the room and finally ordered the baby’s NAME which we will hang above the crib! One of the cutest accessories we got recently is this little rocking horse lamp

Name Update: After using our favorite names for a week each, we finally had a stand out! We are naming our baby Parker James Snowden – we are both loving calling our little one by his name! We displayed each name on the chalkboard in our kitchen - love seeing it every day!

Food Cravings / Aversions: No crazy cravings… I have been having sprouted grain cinnamon raison bagels and I just HAD to make my favorite summer pasta salad the other day. Not sure if that craving was related to pregnancy or warm weather… The only aversion I still have is to veggie pizza which I used to LOVE. So strange!!

How I Am Feeling:  I still feel great! I have noticed that I get a shortness of breath sometimes and I think that’s because the room for air in my lungs is getting smaller! I also have noticed that I can’t eat as much in a sitting – I’m back to pre-pregnancy portions but because I get full faster – like I did before being pregnant! I think there is not much room around my stomach either. I am also super thirsty a lot…

What I Miss: My super cute jeans. Even with a bella band they just don’t get up around my hips enough to be worn. To make up for that I was excited to still be able to wear several of my favorite dresses and skirts! Thanks to either the bella band or empire waistlines – yay!!

What Are We Talking About: We spent a lot of time talking about names and using names… that’s been a lot of what we’ve been talking about. We’re all still discussing some of the big-ticket registry items – monitor and high chair right now. Still working on projects in and out of the house… think that will go on until Parker is actually HERE!

Worst Part So Far: Still these horrible, unattractive varicose veins! They get achy if I’m on my feet too long but I am getting better about propping them up.  I am going to get measured for restrictive hose which will help keep them from getting any worse. (How “old lady” is that?!) Also heartburn is becoming a regular thing – gross! It’s usually at night after dinner but occasionally it sneaks up after lunch too. (Ugh!)

Best Part So Far: Naming our son! Having a name for our baby boy and saying it every day is so exciting! We also loved sharing it with our family and friends!

Well there’s my second preggy update! Please keep sharing your experiences with me too, I love hearing from other pregnancy veterans!

  1. So exciting! I love your name! We decided on a name much easier than I thought we would. After our initial vetoes...Hubby came home and told me he'd been thinking about my favorite name and decided he really liked it. So we agreed on Avery. We are deciding on a middle name. Tied right now between Rose & Grace. Hoping the right fit just comes to us (and it's the same).

High chair- I really thought I wanted a nice high chair, removable padding, highers and lowers, etc. Luckily, someone gave us a hand me down. Because, if I would have spent money on one like we have...I'd be so diaapointed. It's a PAIN to clean. I would get a plain wood one- nothing fancy. They have some really nice wood ones, same concept a little more decorative and a few more features if you budget is allowing for it.

But my biggest advice when it comes to the high chair, is that it gets messy. Really messy. It's a 3 meal a day , plus snacks , 7 days a week. It needs cleaned a lot. Do yourself a mama favor and get something that easily wipes down. Anything with a padded seat, or tiny plastic cervices is a pain to clean. Try and find something that doesn't have many nooks and crannies for food to get into or to be cleaned out of.

I may be going to IKEA soon and getting rid of our current hand me down, because I'm that annoyed that the free one and the amount time I have to spend cleaning it. We have a Chicco similar to the Polly (but older). It's really nice, it's survived now a 4th kid. Still works well (mechanical wise, etc.) But the cleaning.....yuck

    1. Great high chair advice Jessica!! I am with you on that. We are definitely going to get one that is easy to clean regardless of how un attractive it may be. The wood ones appeal to me very much - I need to see them in person to see how easy they are to operate. I am thinking of a Fischer Price model - I forgot what it's called but it is supposed to take the cake when it comes to cleaning it!! Where do you live that you have an IKEA? I used to live in Atlanta and there's one there, but now I'm up near Nashville and we don't have one :(

  3. You look gorgeous! I agree 100% w/what Jessica said: Cleaning them is a PAIN - 3-4 times every. single. day. A problem I ran into as well was the first cheapy high chair I bought, Morgan slumped back to far and the seat wasn't adjustable/reclinable, so we couldn't even use it. Bought another one that she fits into better and has grown with her nicely, but is just the devil to clean. It's so gross.

    I LOVE the name too - little Parker ; ) It's perfect!

    1. I am so glad to get this highchair input!! We are looking at a Fischer Price model that is supposed to be the easiest high chair to clean - no crevices, etc. I was JUST reading about the adjustable/reclining options and understand that's important - good to hear you back that up though!! Thanks, we are loving saying Parker to each other and to the bump :)

  4. You look beautiful! I'm having serious issues finding anything to wear... it'll probably ending up being yoga pants and maxi dresses until the end, for me :) I love the name!

    1. Yes, yoga pants are a daily item for me it seems :) The Gap has great maternity clothes - I got all my maternity jeans there and several tops. I keep saying that I'm going to go to Target because I've heard great things about their selection (even from people who don't normally buy their clothes there) but I haven't made the trip yet. The bella band has been helpful too so I can wear my regular clothes, not buttoned or zipped, but held in place by the band - love it!! :) It's getting so warm these days I am going to have to up my wardrobe in maxi dresses - great idea!!
