Boot Camp Week 2

I don’t know but I’ve been told… Boot Camp girls are strong a bold.

That is the opening of the cadence we chant at boot camp. Seriously. I wrote last week about the4-week-boot-camp I enrolled in at the gym this month.

So how’s it going? Well I’m glad it’s just four weeks! Boot camp is grueling and our coaches do a great job playing the drill sergeant routine.

It’s serious.

If someone is late? We all pay a penalty. If we finish the work out before others, we run in place or jump rope until everyone is done. It’s no joke. And that’s on top of a workout that might make you cry.

In addition to the 3-days-a-week of boot camp we are also doing three CrossFit workouts per week. Those are tough too but recently I’ve found them to be a nice change to the boot camp!

So for those keeping score that’s six workouts in one week. Ouch.

Then there’s the meal plan. I love being on a meal plan. It takes the guess work out of eating healthy and cooking clean. But at the same time the meal plan is my biggest issue. The shopping, prepping, and cooking three meals a day plus at least one snack for Honey and I is proving to put quite a demand on my time.

I need an extra day each week just to prep so that I can put the meals together quickly and easily!

But the food itself? Delicious! Honey and I have not yet had a meal we didn’t like! Which is wonderful!

Biggest challenge so far? First was being out of town and having to make healthy choices when temptation was eh-va-ry where. Second is being prepared with meals at home. Always having the ingredients to make the meals and snacks in advance so I have what I need when I need it. But isn’t that true with every meal plan?

So for week two, we’re hanging in there, still doing it. Still glad we’re doing it? Today I’d say yes. But ask me again tomorrow!

So What Wednesday

Today I'm linking up with Shannon over at "Life After I Dew" to say SO WHAT Wednesday!

So What Wednesday

This week I'm saying so what if ...

  • I placed the blades for my food processor in a "safe place"? Well, $75 and ten minutes online later and new ones will be here any day. And when I find the safely tucked away blades that came with my food processor well then I'll just have two sets. So what, right?
  • I did not want to go to Boot Camp on Monday night? I love working out in the mornings and loathe working out in the evenings. Oh well, I went. And I can do this for three more weeks, right?
  • (Speaking of working out) I posted a post-workout picture on this very blog? I needed to capture sweet Parker Bear kisses and well, let's face it, this is what I look like most days. A mom in workout gear.
  • I might have hung a decoration for Baby Boy's FIRST BIRTHDAY party? The party might not be for ten more days but someone is very excited! And I don't mean the birthday boy...
What are you saying so what to this week?

Happy Wednesday!

Baby Got Back

If you’ve ever seen me in real life, you know I have an – ahem – booty. It’s genetic. I work to keep it - and the rest of my body - in check. I go to CrossFit classes three or four times a week and eat clean most of the time.

Even so, bikini ready I am not. This horrible fact was really brought to my attention last week when I went to the beach and put a bikini on. Ack!

So when my gym announced that were offering a four-week boot camp, the timing was perfect. The boot camp is three days a week for one hour. The additional requirements are that you must work out three additional times during the week. And stick to a very strict nutrition plan.

As our coaches say, abs are made in the kitchen.

Ugh, no truer words have ever been uttered.

So the work outs I can do. Do they suck? Yes. But I think of what I’m working towards. What I want to look like. And it’s only an hour. And I do it.

The nutrition plan is harder. No one is there encouraging you. The opportunity to cheat is everywhere.

But maybe the hardest part is that everything I eat has to be prepared. By me. In my kitchen. No tearing open a bag of chips. No throwing together a sandwich. No. Everything has to be chopped, prepped, and cooked. And that? Is the hardest part for me.

Oh and while I’m in this boot camp? Honey and I are attending a marriage retreat in a nearby town (more on that later), we are hosting both sets of grandparents for a weekend for Parker’s dedication, we celebrate two years of marriage, and we are celebrating Parker’s First Birthday with a no-holds-barred birthday bash.

Not exactly a "good" time to start such a boot camp. But is there ever a “good” time to say I want to take my fitness and nutrition to the next level? NO! So the time for me is now.

I’m excited about participating and Honey has my back one-hundred-and-ten-percent. He’s doing his own work outs and is fully committed to the meal plan with me. (Is he the best or what?!)

Of course I’ll keep you posted... I kinda have to now right.

Oh the before pics? Don’t ask. I’m not sharing those!

I’m off to the kitchen to prepare another healthy meal!

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday

It’s Wednesday and if I remember correctly that means... SO WHAT Wednesday!! As always I'm joining a link up with Shannon from Life After I “Dew” and …

This week I’m saying:

So what if… I haven't linked up on SWW in, um, four months?! I haven't even blogged in four months! Which brings me to...

So what if… I haven't even blogged in four months?! I was taking care of this cutie-patutie:

Must share that P's Daddy got him this hoodie!
(But seriously I am so glad to be back!)

So what if… I hardly worked out after Parker was born?! I'm just now getting back into my three or four days a week! It was hard for me to find a routine in the beginning.

First day back post workout pic

So what if… I'm completely freaking out about taking Baby Parker to his 4-month doctor's appointment all by myself? I had to call in the reinforcements (aka Mom) for his 2-month appointment but am attempting this one alone. Who likes to see their baby get shots??

P and Me at his 2 month checkup

So what if... I just put on non-maternity jeans for the very first time this week?! The last time I wore non-maternity jeans was almost this time last year! Since P-man was born in May it was just too blame hot for jeans afterwards. With this nice fall air we're getting I'm loving wearing jeans and seeing all my non-maternity denim is like seeing long lost friends!

Well that's what I'm saying SO WHAT to this week, what about you?

So What Wednesday

It’s Wednesday and time for another edition of SO WHAT Wednesday!! I always link this post up with Shannon over at "Life After I “Dew” and …

This week I’m saying:

So what if… I’m in my 30’s and still *slightly* jealous that my parents went on vacation without me? Sure they’re entitled to have their own get-away’s and their own trips but I can still be just a little jealous that the dogs and I aren’t with them right?!

Picture my parents send me of their dog, Truman, on the beach:

So what if… My first baby shower is this weekend and I’m *still* finalizing the registries? There is so much to know and research. I mean, sure we have the little stuff pretty much covered but when it comes to the big ticket items those are big decisions!

So what if… I’m sore today since I worked out yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks? Honestly it felt great to be back and I’m ready to get back into my 3-days-a-week routine!

CrossFit “Clean & Jerks” yesterday:

So what if… I’m so excited to see my husband that I am like a giddy school girl? He’s my best friend and when he’s not home I *miss* him terribly! I can’t wait to see his handsome face soon!

So what if… I never get tired of hearing my 2-year-old nephew say “Cole” (my name)? He has been learning to say everyone’s names for a few months and of course he learned my puppy dogs names *before* he learned my name (which I also love!). Hearing him say “Doodle” (for Daphne Doodle) and “Ash” (for Cash) is precious, but when he starting saying “Cole” it melted my heart!

Well that’s what I’m saying SO WHAT to this week, what about you?
